Dr. Zierk received his undergraduate degree from College of Charleston. He attended medical school at the University of South Carolina, and completed residency in Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Children's Center and fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He is currently completing a Master's degree in Healthcare Quality and Safety at the University of Pennsylvania. He joined the neonatology faculty in 2024. He has interests in quality improvement and bronchopulmonary dysplasia.
