My main research concerns the archaeology and history of the eastern Mediterranean between the Iron Age and Late Antiquity, and the comparative history of archaeology and antiquarianism worldwide. Within these fields I have long-standing interests in the archaeology of memory and of the senses, the archaeology and history of the scripts and languages of ancient Anatolia, and the history and theory of fakes and forgeries. I am the author of The Pasts of Roman Anatolia: Traces, Interpreters, Horizons (CUP 2019) and the co-editor of several books, including, most recently, Otros pasados: ontologías alternativas y el estudio de lo que ha sido (Universidad de Los Andes/MUSA 2022). I am currently writing a book on dance and historical consciousness in the ancient Mediterranean and Near East.
