Ankur Shah, MD is Assistant Professor of Medicine, Associate Program Director for Research, and Medical Director for Peritoneal Dialysis in the Davita North-Providence program in the Division of Kidney Disease and Hypertension at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He is an expert in home dialysis and the intersection of planetary health and kidney disease, areas in which he is well published and has lectured both nationally and internationally. His work is supported by NIGMS, AHRQ, Advance-CTR, BPI, RILSH, and the SURDNA Foundation.He is also a decorated educator having received numerous teaching awards at Brown and is a past winner of the American Society of Nephrology’s innovations in kidney education contest. He also serves on various committees of the ASN, RPA, and ISPD including as Chair of the ISPD Early Career Committee and the ISPD-NAC Policy Committee.

I currently serve as the associate program director of the nephrology fellowship. In this capacity I mentor several fellows, residents and students. In addition to this, I provide didactic and bedside teaching to medical students, residents and fellows who rotate through the outpatient and inpatient neprhology service. Topics I regularly lecture on include home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. I serve as a longitudinal faculty advisor to internal medicine residents and I am a member of the council of specialty career advisors.
