Overview

Christoph Stretz, MD, FAAN, FANA is a Vascular and Critical Care neurologist at Rhode Island Hospital, and an Associate Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He also serves as the program director for the Vascular Neurology fellowship.

Dr. Stretz completed Neurology residency training at the University of Connecticut, and fellowship training in Neurocritical Care and Vascular Neurology at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is board-certified in Neurology, Vascular Neurology and Neurocritical Care.

He is passionate about education, patient care and clinical research through multi-disciplinary collaborations, and co- established the annual Rhode Island Stroke Symposium in 2021, a forum to disseminate state-of- the-art updates on stroke care in Rhode Island and the wider New England Region.

Dr. Stretz' clinical and research interests include the acute management and secondary prevention of recurrent strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation, stroke mechanisms in patients with central retinal artery occlusion and the hyperacute management and secondray prevention of intracerebral hemorrhage.

He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Neurological Association, the Neurocritical Care Society and the American Heart Association, and serves as a reviewer for the journals Neurocritical Care, Frontiers in Neurology and Stroke.
