Overview

Dr. Nie is a board-certified child neurologist and epileptologist at the Children’s Neurodevelopment Center (CNDC) at Brown University Health/Hasbro Children’s in Rhode Island. Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in child neurology and epilepsy/clinical neurophysiology, Dr. Nie specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of various neurological conditions. His clinical expertise includes epilepsy management through medical therapies, dietary interventions, surgical procedures, and neuromodulation techniques. Dr. Nie serves as a faculty member for the clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy fellowship programs and is an attending physician in the multidisciplinary epilepsy surgery program at Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children’s.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Nie conducted research on Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) to promote the understanding of autism and epilepsy—co-occuring conditions in patients with TSC. This research was supported by Autism Speaks and The Manton Center for Orphan Disease Research at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Nie’s current research focuses on identifying electrophysiological and molecular biomarkers in early-life epilepsies, which are frequently genetic and/or metabolic in origin and often associated with other neurodevelopmental disorders.
