Overview

Dr. Nie is a child neurologist and epileptologist practicing at the Children’s Neurodevelopment Center (CNDC) in Hasbro Children’s Hospital, RI. He is board-certified by the ABPN in child neurology and epilepsy/clinical neurophysiology. Dr. Nie's clinical interests include diagnosing and treating general neurological conditions, epilepsy management with medical and non-meical apporaches including dietary therapy, surgical intervention, and neuromodulation. Additionally, he is on the faculty for the clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy fellowship programs, and attending physician in the multidisciplinary epilepsy surgery program at Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children's Hospital. Previously, he conducted research in Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) to better understand the neurobiology of autism and epilepsy, conditions commonly seen in patients with TSC. His research was funded by Autism Speaks and The Manton Center for Orphan Disease Research at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Nie's current research interest focuses on assessing electrophysiological and molecular biomarkers in early-life epilepsies, which are often genetic and/or metabolic in etiology and associated with other neurodevelopmental disorders.
