Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Clinician Educator

Overview

Dr. Herren is a staff psychologist and the Associate Director at the Pediatric Anxiety Research Center (PARC) at Bradley Hospital. As Associate Director of PARC, she supports operations across PARC programs as well as leads outpatient services at PARC. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Judge Baker Children’s Center and Harvard University. Her research interests broadly focus on the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based practices for youth, with an emphasis on exposure-based treatment for OCD and anxiety. She has extensive experience implementing intervention studies and partnering with community organizations in the use of exposure and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Dr. Herren is an active research collaborator and has been a Co-Investigator on six federally-funded studies at PARC.

Dr. Herren has a strong passion for increasing equitable access to exposure-based therapy for all youth. As such, she contributed to the development of a new outpatient service line at PARC using a team-based intervention model designed to increase access to care. She has specialized expertise in therapist training and consultation in exposure-based CBT and has been involved in multiple training initiatives and clinical trials training therapists in delivering exposure therapy over the past 15 years. She currently provides training and consultation for treating pediatric anxiety and OCD though the PARC Training Institute. Lastly, she is the primary supervisor for PARC’s outpatient training clinic.
