Dr. Joshua Kemp is a clinical psychologist and assistant professor of psychiatry and human behavior (research) at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He completed his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Wyoming and an NIMH-funded T32 postdoctoral fellowship in child mental health at Brown University and Bradley Hospital.
Dr. Kemp serves as the Innovation Officer within the Office of Research Administration at Brown University Health, where he leads efforts to translate research innovations into scalable, real-world solutions. His research focuses on academic entrepreneurship and the development of novel, technology-enhanced interventions—such as virtual reality and gamified digital tools—to expand access to high-quality behavioral treatments, particularly exposure therapy for anxiety and related disorders. He has founded multiple entities based on his research and is dedicated to bridging the gap between scientific discovery and clinical impact.
At the Pediatric Anxiety Research Center, Dr. Kemp contributes to several federally funded projects that aim to improve the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based treatments across service settings. Through this work, he continues to explore ways to enhance therapist training, optimize clinical outcomes, and promote sustainable models of care.
