Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology

Overview

Metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes and associated cardiovascular diseases are fast becoming the leading global epidemic of our time. The complexities of these diseases require a multidisciplinary attack that must go beyond simply translating basic science discoveries into clinical practice. I am interested in bringing the public health and biological sciences to bear on the emerging challenges of 1) assessing the impact of genes and their interactions with behavior, nutrition, and the environment on health and diseases; 2) critically and systematically evaluating the significance of genetic and dietary variations within populations and applying that knowledge to improve both individual and population health.
