Jeffrey D. Manning, MD, CAQ Sports Medicine is a board certified family physician with a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. He specializes in primary care sports medicine focusing on both medical illness as well as injury. Dr. Manning graduated from Williams College and then earned his medical degree at the Penn State College of Medicine. He went on to complete his residency in family medicine at Brown University. After residency Dr. Manning completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the University of Massachusetts.
In addition to his role as Medical Director of Affinity Sports Medicine, Dr. Manning also serves as a faculty member at The Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University and the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Manning is also the director of the Brown University Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship, which is the only primary care sports medicine fellowship in the state of Rhode Island. Prior to medical school Dr. Manning was a high school teacher and coached football and lacrosse.
Dr. Manning’s care for patients reflects his background as a teacher. He wants his patients to understand what’s wrong so they can play an active role in their own recovery. Dr. Manning continues to teach and was honored with a national teaching award through the American Academy of Family Physicians for his work with medical students at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Dr. Manning was recognized with the 2016 Dean's Excellence in Teaching Award from The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He was also named as a "Top Doc Sports Medicine"in the 2016 "Top Docs" Issue of Rhode Island Monthly Magazine.
