I was born in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. I received a BS degree in Computer Science from Cornell University in 1993 and MS and PhD degrees in EECS from MIT in 2001 and 2003. I was a professor at the University of Chicago from 2004 to 2011. I have been a professor at Brown since 2011.
