Overview

Ruben G. Martinez, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Training Director of the BRIDGE Program, and Affiliate Faculty at the Annenberg Institute. He also serves as Lead for Implementation for the Advance RI-CTR and as Vice-Chair of the American Psychological Association’s Advisory Committee for Measurement-Based Care and the Mental and Behavioral Health Registry.

Dr. Martinez’s work leverages equity-focused implementation methods to improve systems of care for youth experiencing health and mental health problems. He provides consultation, mentorship, and training in implementation science, and he collaborates on federally funded projects spanning youth mental health, HIV prevention, nutrition equity, and post-injury care. His leadership in developing innovative, equity-centered methods aims to advance both research and practice while strengthening interdisciplinary collaborations across healthcare, education, and community systems.

He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, completed his predoctoral internship and an NIMH T32 postdoctoral fellowship at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. He became a licensed psychologist in Rhode Island in 2025.
