Dr. Gaudiano is co-editor of a new book that is forthcoming from Guilford Press, titled Treating Complex Mental Health Conditions with Mindfulness, Acceptance, and Self-Compassion.
Dr. Gaudiano co-authored the book by Oxford University Press from their Treatments that Work Series, titled Coping Long Term with Active Suicide Program (CLASP): A Multi-Modal Intervention for Suicide Prevention (Clinician Guide).
Editor of a multi-volume reference work, titled Mindfulness, which is part of Routledge's Major Themes in Mental Health Series.
Editor of the book, Incorporating Mindfulness and Acceptance into the Treatment of Psychosis: Current Trends and Future Directions published by Oxford University Press.
Associate Editor of Wiley's Encyclopedia of Clinical Psychology.
Currently, Dr. Gaudiano is Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the Brown School of Public Health. Dr. Gaudiano is a Clinical Psychologist at Brown-affiliated Butler Hospital, where he is Associate Director of the Psychosocial Research Program and Director of Butler's Transitional Outpatient Program. In addition, he is Primary Faculty in the Brown Mindfulness Center and a Research Psychologist at the Providence VA Medical Center.
Currently, he is on the American Psychological Association (APA) Council of Representatives and the Board of Directors for the Society of Clinical Psychology. He is also an APA Fellow and serves as the Chair of the APA's Advisory Steering Committee for Development of Clinical Practice Guidelines.

Research Statement
Dr. Gaudiano's innovative research areas include the use of acceptance/mindfulness-based therapies, incorporation of mobile technology, and focus on dissemination/implementation issues. The ultimate aim of this research is to improve the standard of care for individuals with difficult-to-treat clinical conditions, including during treatment transition periods (e.g., from inpatient to outpatient care).

Course Title: CRITICAL THINKING ABOUT HUMAN BEHAVIOR
Course Code: PY901-3A
Description: "Why do many people believe in palm reading, alien abductions, past-life regression therapy, and ghosts? Can what you see in an inkblot reveal hidden aspects of your personality? Is it true that some people have the power to see into the future? This course will introduce students to methods used by psychological science to help answer these common questions about the "unknown."
We will examine common ways in which human thinking leads people to believe strange things and to maintain these beliefs even in the face of contradictory information. Students will develop critical thinking skills for evaluating claims about human behavior, especially claims made in the popular media concerning paranormal or otherwise unusual or extraordinary phenomena. The scientific method will be examined as a unique tool for overcoming cognitive biases. The distinctions between science and pseudo-science will be explored, including the gray areas or "borderlines" of science and science's potential limitations. Illustrations of concepts will be drawn from psychology and medicine.
