Rob van Aalst, MSc, PhD is Director of Field Medical Evidence Generation and AI at Sanofi Vaccines, where he leads the development of agentic AI workflows for insights generation and real-world evidence across US health systems. His current work focuses on combining vaccine epidemiology with AI-driven, validated, reproducible analytical pipelines to study immunization patterns, access barriers, and post-licensure effectiveness. Earlier work, conducted while leading global medical evidence generation for Sanofi's Flu, ExPEC and RSV franchises, focused on estimating the burden of RSV in infants and on the transportation and generalization of results from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to target populations captured in real-world data such as insurance claims data. His broader body of research has produced numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations on influenza disease burden, risk factor analysis, and influenza vaccine effectiveness. As Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Brown University School of Public Health, Rob mentors PhD and Master's students and helped establish the Sanofi–Brown fellowship program.
