Professor of Family Medicine, Director of Primary Care and Prevention, Professor of Epidemiology


Dr. Eaton, better known as "Chuck", is a board-certified family physician and clinical epidemiologist. He has been at Brown for the past 25 years and is Director of the Center for Primary Care and  Prevention including its Clinical Studies Center. Dr. Eaton is principal investigator (PI) of Vanguard Women’s Health Initiative site in Pawtucket, RI  recently renewed for an additional  5 years,  site PI for ASPREE trial, PI of the clinical center of the Osteoarthritis Initiative, now in its 12th year, and co-PI on several implementation science grants transforming primary care practice and 10 industry sponsored clinical trials.  His primary research interests include understanding the role of nutrition, physical activity, and adiposity on cardio-metabolic outcomes and other chronic diseases (osteoarthritis). He actively participates in the teaching and mentoring of medical  students, residents, PhD candidates in Epidemiology, post doctoral fellows including several F32s and T32s, and junior faculty including several K awards and specialty career development awards.
