Dr. Dulin has two primary research foci that include examining (1) risk factors and resilience resources related to cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk (e.g., diet, physical activity, obesity) and HIV outcomes among children and racial/ethnic minorities. Some of the risk factors include neighborhood socioeconomic disadvantage, perceived neighborhood disorder, the built environment, individual-level, socioeconomic position, and racial discrimination. Some of the resilience resources include neighborhood social support and cohesion, interpersonal support, and optimism; and (2) development of multilevel CVD prevention interventions and the identification of social determinants that may moderate these intervention outcomes. She uses a variety of research approaches to examine the aforementioned research areas including using community engaged research, mixed methods, quantitative methods, and secondary data analyses, mixed methods approaches to inform culturally appropriate obesity-related interventions for under-served populations (e.g., Asian and Latino), and examining the roles of psychosocial stressors on health behaviors and cardiovascular disease risk factors.
