Director of Behavioral and Preventive Medicine, Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Professor of Behavioral and Social Sciences


Since 2011, Dr. Carey has served as the Director of the Centers for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine at the Miriam Hospital. He is a licensed clinical psychologist, and has been elected to Fellow status in the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Psychological Science, and the Society for Behavioral Medicine. He has served served on Board of Directors of the Society of Behavioral Medicine and the Division of Health Psychology of the APA. He reviews frequently for the NIH, CDC, and other granting agencies, and has reviewed for more than 80 professional journals.

Prior to joining Brown, Dr. Carey was Dean's Professor of the Sciences and Founding Director of Center for Health and Behavior at Syracuse University (1986-2011).
