Charles A. and Helen B. Stuart Professor of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, Chair of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology

Overview

Dr. Bennett is a Professor in the department of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology. Research interests focus on the biology of the human fungal pathogen Candida albicans, including the mechanisms used to generate phenotypic diversty. In particular, research is addressing mechanisms of epigenetic switching between alternative cell types, as well as the genetic changes that arise in natural or recombining populations. Dr. Bennett was an undergraduate at Cambridge University, and did his PhD at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in the UK. He did postdoctoral studies at Harvard University and at the University of California, San Francisco, prior to starting his own laboratory at Brown.
